During the sermon, I read the entire story of the prodigal son... how the son who had stayed with the father was angry that his father was celebrating the return of the prodigal, where he felt that he was slighted because he had stayed and NOT received the same celebrations and gifts from his father... he complained to his father about it. Then Matt spoke about how we, as humans, look for 'fairness' in dealing with sin... when it's another person's sin. But the beauty of Grace is that it makes life not 'fair'... and we all have the same opportunity for redemption no matter what our sin. I also was very overwhelmed when I saw the images of 'The Passion'. Growing up a Christian sometimes makes it easy to forget the real agony and suffering that Jesus went through on the cross. But seeing the crucifiction so graphically always reminds me that there was nothing easy about the sacrifice that Jesus made for me... and makes me ashamed of my sin and the fact that I STILL sin, even after seeing that. Thanks, Matt, for a great message.
